For more than a century, Isla Perttula has turned the resources beneath the Texas Gulf Coast into materials for American industry.
| 1789 | Spanish Crown confirms the Varela grant, recorded as Isla de la Portilla. |
| 1834 | A Mexican-era resurvey records the name as "Perttula." |
| 1911 | Isla Perttula Sulphur Company incorporated in Galveston by Elias T. Cardwell. |
| 1913 | First sulphur produced from the Perttula Dome. |
| 1919 | Townsite of Perttula laid out by the Company. |
| 1931–1934 | Perttula Cut dredged; the Company's deepwater channel opens. |
| 1938 | Company Aviation Department formed. |
| 1947 | Aviation Department begins scheduled service to Perttula Shoal. |
| 1952 | Company renamed Perttula Consolidated Industries, Inc. |
| 1957 | Chlor-alkali plant opens at Perttula Works; corporate identity program introduced. |
| 1961 | Hurricane Carla. Carla Levee completed 1963. |
| 1974 | Borealis Oilfield Chemicals formed in Alaska. |
| 1983 | Final sulphur production from the Perttula Dome. |
| 1989 | Company reorganized as Isla Perttula Corporation. |
| 1991 | Isla Perttula Air begins scheduled passenger service. |
| 2011 | Company celebrates its centennial and announces Advanced Materials strategy. |
| 2014 | Perttula Separation Facility commissioned. |
| 2022 | Lakeline Magnetics acquired. |
